Imagine dim sensual lights, burgundy leather booths, an open-air kitchen in the background and one of the finest “bistroesque” French-Mediterranean menus in the town of Athens.
Michel Roux himself welcomed me, offering me an amazing glass of Cabernet Sauvignon just before bringing into my table the catch of the day.
From John Dory, red mullet to lobster – all fresh seafood paraded in front of me just before I tasted the best bouillabaisse in town.
The bouillabaisse is for sure the highlight of Avenue bistro’s winter menu along with the fregola seafood & lobster and the steamed john Dorry….
Typical French meat dishes are not missing from the menu like Cote du boeuf and Venison with sauce bearnaise plus an array of small vegetable dishes composed by seasonable only raw ingredients.
What is important to say about the Avenue bistro is, that although it is a typical new-age French bistro, it s one of a few in the city of Athens that stands out for its ambience, the refined taste in each and every dish on the menu and the value for money total experience.
