What:La Fontaine Gaillon - Traditional French Cuisine - Gerard Depardieu Where: 2me arrondissement -1 Rue de la Michodiere Why Go: For the excellent seafood & sensual ambience
The truth is, I bumped into this beautiful restaurant a month ago and it was love at first sight. For a non Parisian, La Fontaine Gaillon has all the elements expected when dinning in a posh French place.....like: a. service is very good but most waiters are sort of weirdos or let's just say French. b. the menu consists of all the classics and the majority of dishes are executed to perfection with absolute respect to the raw materials and tradition. c has amazing oysters and champagne - this particular place has outstanding wines after all its owner - Gerard Depardieu is known for being a connoisseur d there is a sexy, French ambience to it.
I don't know about you guys but I could spend the rest of my life dining in candle lit beautiful mansions with chandeliers hanging of tall ceilings, supreme champagne flowing and oysters as a starter, main and dessert. that exactly and more is La Fontaine Gaillon, a gracious mansion built in 1672 by Jules Hardouin -Mansart now in the hands of Gerard Depardieu, is a top spot for seafood and prides it self with a cellar full of surprises straight from Depardieu's vinyards. Τhere is a lovely patio-terrace with tables around the Eros fountain plus beautiful inside dinning rooms with dim lighting, erotic engravings on the walls and a people watching crowd.
It will definitely remind you of old Paris.
