Eleni Kyriacou, a young Greek designer opened this season’s Athens Exclusive Designers Week having showed her AW16 Collection which was inspired by a interesting yet controversial archaeological issue: The Ampipolis Tomb.
The collection was named the Amphipolis muse, after the Amphipolis tomb, Alexander’s The Great possible tomb.
As the designer says the tomb for her inspires grandeur, spirituality, royalty and splendor and she managed via the music, her deep red and golden tones on her clothes, her special guests and the whole ambience created to take us to a mysterious journey.
I met the designer a day prior to the show at her atelier where I had a chance to have a closer look at the collection
I loved the collection’s knits, the red leather and black lace dress that Dr Linda Papadopoulos a special guest to the show was wearing plus the make-up that was truly unique.
Mixing lace leather and knit together was something we hadn’t seen so much on the designer’s previous collections and it certainly made the collection interesting to watch.
