FOOD + WINE By Olivier Campanha

It is official!
Sundays, apart from free days in terms of eating whatever I like  are also  contemplating days  on what I tasted, liked, disliked, etc.

Last week, being in Athens , I tasted a few new autumn menus and today’s resto review is about a chef I  find interesting – Olivier Campanha- and his own restaurant that was born a year ago .

WHAT: Food + Wine by Olivier Campanha.
Creative, French – Mediterranean  Cuisine with molecular touches on this new menu and good quality raw produce.
Extensive wine list curated by well known Greek sommelier, Giannis Makris, including a good selection of wines also served by the glass.

TASTING THE FALL MENU. LENASBLACKBOOK. fOOD+WINE BY OLIVIER CAMPANHA

WHERE: At Kolonaki, 49 Xenokratous St. Athens.
The equivalent –  let’s say – Mayfair London, although an equivalent Mayfair does not exist in Athens, I would call it a -South Ken- resembling area – when it comes to food and entertainment.
It is located in the “French resto district of Kolonaki” neighboring to another 3 french like restaurants.
WHY GO: Oh dear, Oh dear… Because the chef is cute, because the executive chef who happens to be the Head chef’s wife is really sweet and you will be seeing her behind an open air Kitchen putting the finishing touches to the dishes….which are super creative for Athenian standards…..
Foremost because it combines interesting food and very good wines in a contemporary atmosphere where you will get to see a nice crowd.
THE —- : The service is so so. Some of the staff has still not found its co ordination and are not trained to the restaurants standards.
The ambience although is getting better and better, has not found it’s ID  and is still unable to make you a regular.
The Verdict: A year since it’s opening, this fall’s menu is it’s best,  showcasing a lot of creativity and many interesting ingredients put together, still Olivier s dishes, leave me with an unfulfilled “after taste” in the end of a meal.
