Athens is transforming and reincarnating into a glossy metropolitan-style hub – that will in the end – stand out as a unique European capital combining a face-lifted historic center where its ancient civilization features behind the ultra-contemporary made of glass Acropolis museum and the old meets so unconventionally with the new.
The past 2 years we have witnessed Athens becoming a top destination for tourists with an increased interest for boutique hotels in the heart of the city.
The truth is that, this particular type of hospitality was missing from Athens, leaving the city behind in terms of its neighboring competitors like Rome and Istanbul.
Fortunately the city is welcoming new boutique hotels and will be welcoming even more within 2015.
We have spotted “Athens Was hotel” a new entry just underneath the Acropolis which has opened last week and I am personally looking forward visiting it after I am back from my holidays.
It is a 4 star boutique hotel just underneath the Acropolis situated in one of the most beautiful paved streets of the city centre: Dionisioiu Areopagitou, it only has 21 rooms and has a sister hotel at Folegandros.
