Written by Lena Harizopoulos
What: Avenue Bistro & Bar
Where: The Metropolitan Hotel Athens, Greece
Why Go: For the new winter menu signed by Michel Roux.
Ideal for: The perfect “stay & eat” experience
foodies who love simple French revisited cuisine/ corporate dinners/after-office drinks & nibbles.
As written before, Avenue is one of the few French bistros in the city of Athens and what will strike you the most is the total value for money experience you will get coming to think that the menu is signed by Michel Roux and executed by talented young chef Ilias Kariotoglou.
You will love the warm ambience, the open-air kitchen and delicacies you will get to taste, made at the traditional rotisserie, I did try some amazing crispy pork.
Menu wise, new dishes feature a mussel soup with king crab, cream and zafferano, poached sea bass with lobster and hollandaise sauce, fresh parmigiano gnocchi and salmon fillet with verduette sauce and massed cauliflower.
Desserts and ice cream are made in-house and you will get to find some decent French wine etiquettes by the glass
