La Californie, Cannes France
Written By Lena Harizopoulos
What: La Californie All Day Restaurant – a modern revamp of the authentic bistro.
Where: Cannes – La Croisette – The French Riviera
Why Go: For its bohemian chic ambience, for a casual brunch or dining al fresco
Welcoming and modern, a bohemian chic ambience prevails when you walk in the restaurant, true to Laura Gonzalez’s style – The Interior Designer – without missing though the classic idea of what a bistrot should look like.
The name of the restaurant is symbolic of the city. It refers to the house of Picasso in the Suquet neighborhood and also refers to the famous hill of Cannes.
La Californie resembles a hip American diner with a French bistro touch, open all day from breakfast to dinner serving good old French – Mediterranean classics from yummy croissants, omelettes and pancakes for breakfast to foie gras de canard along a crispy baguette and a nicoise salade.
It is spacious around 350 sm, caters for a maximum of 70 diners inside with two terraces on the north and south part of the restaurant.
Décor wise you will love the Thonet chairs, the spherical lamps, the ‘en haricot’ shape of the tables and most of all the ‘Snake’ bar in opal.
The vividly coloured flowers along with the lithographs and ceramics give an air of timeless elegance.
Do not miss the cocktails!
